Daimler signed with the Indian company the IT contract for $3.2 billion for transition to a hybrid cloud

On December 22, 2020 announced Daimler the conclusion with the Indian company Infosys of the IT contract within which the German car maker will switch to hybrid cloud infrastructure. Financial terms of transaction are officially not opened, however the The Times India edition knows of them — Daimler will pay the partner $3.2 billion, payments will be distributed within eight years.
The signed agreement assumes cardinal updating of technology infrastructure of Daimler and transition to a hybrid cloud environment. The transaction will strengthen presence of Infosys at an automobile segment, and Daimler — will focus on the main engineering and digital opportunities, the press release says.
Infosys will help to transform Daimler the operational model connected with IT and infrastructure through services in creation of Wednesday for joint work, data centers and networks, technical support services and SAP Basis (administration of a system of SAP which includes such actions as installation and setup, balancing of loading and performance of SAP applications). The main results of this cooperation for Daimler should become:
- Development of the smart hybrid cloud using a set of Infosys Cobalt services and the largest cloud providers that will accelerate to car maker transition to a multicloud environment with emphasis on software with open source codes;
- Creation of the solution with zero emission of carbon due to consolidation and rationalization of data centers in all regions;
- Development of the standardized stack of technologies by means of inclusion in an ecosystem of the best partners;
- Creation of modern network Zero Trust with smooth updating of technologies;
- Implementation of the personalized and cognitive solution based on the artificial intelligence in all workflows expanding possibilities of end users.[1]
