The pilot's results - the recommendation

The management of JSC Danone Rossiya recommended in October, 2017 the resident of an IT cluster of Skolkovo Foundation Intelligence Retail company as one of suppliers of services for the automated recognition of goods on the shelf.

Such recommendation was made according to the results of the pilot implementing solution Intelligence Retail in work of a field command of sales department of Danone company in Russia, the agreement on which was signed in June, 2017. Quality check of recognition of products of dairy category using Image Recognition technology and assessment of a possibility of reduction of time for audit of outlets by field personnel was the purpose of the specified agreement.

For successful implementation of pilot implementation the following objects were set:

  • Reduction of time of audit (obtaining the report on the calculation in the mobile device no more than 20 seconds on 1 section);
  • Qualities of recognition of products of Danone (dairy category) – not less than 95%.

Within a pilot project a system was trained in recognition more than 400 SKU Danone, implementing solution with the assistance of pilot group of field employees is executed (merchandisers, sales representatives, using the solution on platforms iOS and Android and the web portal of analytics, the region – the Moscow region). The period of preparation of a system was 1 month (June.2017), trial operation – 1 month (July.2017), further the period of working operation (August.2017).

According to the results of the period of working operation it was reached

  • Time for recognition and preparation of the report on the calculation in the mobile phone, on one section averaged no more than 30 seconds
  • Accuracy of recognition of the range of Danone was:
    • 93.7% - recognition at the level of separate "feysing" of SKU
    • 97.1% - recognition of existence of goods on the shelf (OSA)

On the basis of the received results the management of Danone group in Russia recommended to use the solution Intelligence Retail as one of suppliers of services for the automated recognition of goods on the shelf.

Pilot implementation

JSC Danone Rossiya and the resident of an IT cluster of Skolkovo Foundation of Intelligence Retail signed in June, 2017 the agreement on pilot implementation of the solution Image Recognition developed by the Russian company which is directed to increase in process performance of merchandising. Were present at an agreement signature ceremony which took place within Startup Village 2017: vice president for sales of Danone Russia Adrian Pasku, CEO of Intelligence Retail company Baramzin Sergey, commercial director of Intelligence Retail company of Vandyshev Tatyana and vice president, chief executive of a cluster of information technologies of Skolkovo Foundation Konstantin Parshin.

The solution Intelligence Retail is based on use of technologies of computer vision for recognition of goods of different categories for the purpose of control of existence and correctness of the calculation of goods in network of sales. A system allows the field employee of the company to obtain necessary information on the range and the calculation during 10 sec. The analyst's online in shops allows to increase efficiency of a visit, having excluded collection of information manually. Recognition of goods at the level of the list of the range (SKU), the prices and other information on a photo online gives new opportunities for increase in efficiency of sales. The expanded analytics based on visits allows the company to react quicker to market changes — including in problems of assortment management, high-quality and quantitative distribution.

Our tool allows to pay less attention to different calculations, and it is more — directly to work with the shelf and the range. All indicators are considered automatically on the basis of photos of the calculation of goods. Information on a calculation status, the prices, POS materials is available directly during the visit — as to directly field employee to understanding of achievement of KPI of a visit, and to managers on the portal of analytics — to timely response to deviations and understanding of insights of the market.
