EMC Celerra in Comstar Regions

"Information Technologies" and JSC Mobile TeleSystems announced SITRONICS in September, 2011 successful implementation of a complex of storage systems and backup systems in Comstar Regions Ltd entering into Group of MTS.

The contractor of project works for COMSTAR Regions selected SITRONICS Information Technologies company (Russia). Specialists of integrator were faced by a task of development of system architecture of backup, supply of equipment for creation of a complex of storage systems, to implementing solution in the Moscow region and to further replication in regional divisions of the customer.

The basis of technical solution SITRONICS IT was formed by a new line of the unified EMC Celerra storage systems. In the EMC Celerra NS models the advanced developments, including mechanisms of deduplication of file systems, automatic control of storage life of data at the level of files and ensuring compliance to regulatory requirements are applied. Differ in DWH of EMC in the high fault tolerance (99.999%) reached at the expense of a new storage system of EMC CLARiiON CX4 which is the cornerstone of Celerra NS. Also use of EMC CLARiiON CX4 allows to reduce total ownership cost a system.

All technical solutions implemented within the project were developed SITRONICS IT in close cooperation with specialists of EMC. During the first stage of the project EMC Avamar backup system in the Moscow department COMSTAR Regions was created. EMC Avamar allows to execute daily complete backup in virtual environment of VMware, deleted offices, corporate applications, on the LAN/NAS servers, desktop and portable computers. Based on successful implementation of technical solution in Moscow SITRONICS IT and EMS were carried out by project team similar works in Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Tyumen, Saratov, Ivanovo and Voronezh.

As a result in 9 regional divisions which are responsible for the fixed business of Group of MTS regions the single system of backup with a capacity from 3 to 7 of Tb representing a powerful hardware-software complex which performs deduplication of data on client side that allows to accelerate implementation of technologies of virtualization was unrolled and provides an opportunity quickly and effectively to execute backup and data recovery for environments of VMware. Thus, within daily complete backup only new, unique subfile data segments of variable length are transferred that allows to reduce time spent for backup process, ten times.
