Energoatom begins construction of data centers on the NPP

On October 13, 2020 it became known of the beginning of construction of data centers on the NPP of Energoatom. For implementation of this project the agreement on cooperation with the Dutch technology company Bitfury Holding was signed.

According to the head of Energoatom Pyotr Kotin, emergence of data centers in a zone of nuclear power stations should solve a problem of restriction of issue of the electric power with the NPP in the country.

I thank all specialists of Energoatom and Bitfury Holding who joined preparation of the memorandum and brought the first stage of cooperation between the companies to a logical conclusion. This beginning of big and complex work which will allow to solve a number of strategic problems both for Energoatom, and for Ukraine in general — he said (his words are cited by the press service of the Ukrainian energy company).

According to forecasts of partners, the volume of electricity consumption by new data centers can reach 2 GW.

Energoatom begins construction of data centers on AESV partnership with Bitfury Group

The director of Bitfury Holding of Oleg Blinkov noted on October 13, 2020 that the company cooperates several months with Energoatom within preparation of the project of start of data centers.

Among premises of signing of the document of the party noted rapid growth of the industry of services of data processing centers as industry which allows to consolidate information resources and to reduce total costs by ownership of IT infrastructure.

The companies noted that cooperation between Energoatom and Bitfury Holding will allow to solve a number of the most burning problems in the industry.[1]
