On September 11, 2018 the third largest American mobile operator T-Mobile announced the conclusion with Ericsson of the large contract for delivery of telecommunication equipment and software for deployment of networks of fifth generation (5G). The transaction worth $3.5 billion became the largest for the Swedish company in the market of a 5G technologies.
The agreement is expected several years during which T-Mobile will build 5G network on the basis of the equipment and the software of Ericsson. Besides, the American operator will use solutions of Nokia company with which signed the contract in July, 2018. That order also was for the amount $3.5 billion. Thus, T-Mobile invests $7 billion in development of a 5G communication.
In addition to the equipment, held for use a range of a 5G of New Radio (NR) and conforming to standards 3GPP, Ericsson T-Mobile will provide digital services and the BSS and Cloud Core platforms which will help the operator to offer a 5G service to clients.
It is noted that base stations of Ericsson Radio System which are already let into T-Mobile networks will be able to pass to technology 5G NR by a simple software update.
The network of fourth generation (LTE) will continue to develop, but a priority the American company gives a 5G. T-Mobile is going to build in 2018 networks of fifth generation in 30 cities of the USA.[1]
