The electric grid company, largest in Russia, -FGC UES - considers the possibility of start of the large-scale project on use of mobile devices by the mobile crews making bypasses and surveys of aerial lines, TAdviser the associate director of IT department of the company Alexander Shchekanov told on April 12, 2013.
According to him, the project is going to be implemented based on the SAP platform for mobile devices. Using this application on tablets, inspectors will be able to enter state-of-health data of aerial lines which then will be transferred to the ERP system of the SAP company on cellular networks during a bypass of aerial lines. If cellular networks on section are absent, then data will be transferred to a system at connection of the tablet to the computer with Internet access on the nearest bases of the company.
At connection of the tablet to the Internet inspectors, in turn, will be able automatically to receive tasks, necessary to accomplishment, from the ERP system.
Approximately on hundred tablets the IT department of FGC UES expects to start a pilot project in 2013. In its course the company is going to estimate possibilities of use of mobile devices in difficult weather conditions and convenience of use of mobile devices by crews, to estimate all possible costs and some other the moments, Alexander Shchekanov says.
The Deputy Chief information officer of FGC UES also tells that he for use in the IT department project studies industrial tablets in the protected execution now from several producers among which -Panasonic.
FGC UES is responsible for operation of high-voltage transmission lines with a total length of 132.3 thousand km. Alexander Shchekanov notes that their project on use of tablets by inspectors should become the first in Russia.
"Abroad such projects are, we continue to study experiment of the foreign companies on use of tablets by working crews, - he says. - It should be taken into account at the same time that in Europe, for example, other conditions in which inspectors work: there is no such extent of territories as we, have cellular networks everywhere".
