Precisely by the beginning of action of the summer schedule of 2003, on March 30, 2003 the check-in area and service maintenance of the new central terminal of the airport Leipzig/Hull was put into operation. Exactly at 1 a.m. the management of the airport Leipzig/Hull met the first passengers in the new building of the terminal.
In total in day of input of the new central terminal in operation 1090 passengers were registered.
The processing system and sortings of baggage (GFSA) of Vanderlande Industries GmbH company, in a complex with the system of 100% control of baggage became an integral part new the central terminal. The GFSA system is characterized, first of all, by use of the illuminated container for transportation of luggage units. Thus, separation of luggage units special containers before the procedure of x-ray control is not required any more thanks to what the baggage is transported especially carefully.
PSI Logistics GmbH as subcontractor of Vanderlande Industries GmbH delivered a system for the module GFSA at the level of the managing computer.
The GFSA system was developed for round-the-clock operation seven days a week. It distributes up to 1600 units of baggage per hour on 22 different sorting devices. At the second stage of expansion the power of a system can be increased optionally up to 3600 units of baggage per hour.
Problem definition and implementation
For ensuring high reliability at the round-the-clock operation seven days a week, MS Windows system 2000 Advanced Server with two cluster nodes was used.
The luggage which is checked in at a front desk at first goes the computer host to the system of multilevel examination of baggage (MRKA). After that all "checked" baggage, according to the automated schedule of flights, automatically, at the command of the computer host and according to operational to parameters, the set operators, moves on final sections of sorting for loading. At the same time there is an exchange of necessary information with the following systems.
- The computer host obtains information on the processed baggage from the relevant airlines via the central SITA interface (Cubes/MDS).
- Information on the corresponding runs it is regular, by means of the procedure of copying, goes (Snapshot) to a management system for the schedule of flights.
- Results and data of stages of x-ray examination are transmitted from the computer host to the system of comparison of baggage and passengers belonging to the Federal Border Service.
- The current messages on section and the commands for transportation arriving on the basis of these events from the computer host are transferred to 10 programmable controllers distributed on all section.
- Data of passengers and baggage are transferred to the central server of the Federal Border Service for comparison.
Distribution of final sections of sorting by operators is supported by information dialogs of the computer host. Specialized functions of jobs allow the staff of the airport and Federal Border Service to cope with ease with special cases. Processing of large-size baggage or manual examination of baggage in the presence of the passenger by the staff of the Federal Border Service concern them, among other things.
Configuration
The system of high reliability consists of two computers on the basis of Windows 2000 Advanced Server of production Hewlett Packard, everyone with an external RAID for data storage. The reserve computer is configured as the system of a hot reserve (Hot-Standby), switching at failure of an active system is automatic, without intervention of the system administrator.
Data are stored in the centralized Oracle database
In workplaces client Java applications under Windows NT are used.
Information on the processed runs which are already sorted or being in a sorting stage baggage is displayed for land service staff of the airport on sorting roundabouts in real time by means of the so-called notifications "outbound".
The available ten controllers of the hoisting-and-transport equipment are connected via the data transmission interfaces TCP/IP. At any time additional connections of programmable controllers are possible.
