2020: Implementation of SAP application for tracking of distribution of COVID-19

On April 30, 2020 the SAP CIS company reported that one of local departments of health care in the south of Germany already uses the cloud applicaion of SAP for tracking of contacts with the patients infected with COVID-19. It was started on April 10, 2020 and allows to automate and to considerably accelerate this process.

According to data of Institute of Robert Koch weekly about 400,000 people pass test for COVID-19 if the test is positive, the doctor should notify on it the patient and local department of health care. Then it is necessary to collect data on all contacts infected which could occur within the last two weeks.

"Monitor all possible contacts of the person very major and difficult task, the developed IT solution seriously simplified to us work. Processes were considerably optimized for municipal and district administrative agencies, I hope that it will help to prevent spread of a virus", 'Roland Bernhard, the head of administration of the city of Boeblingen in the south of Germany noted'

If the person was in contact with the patient with COVID-19, he will receive e-mail from local authority in Boeblingen, in will be mute the link to the web application developed by SAP. Having agreed to information processing, it can enter necessary data from any device, then they in an anonymous form get for the analysis and further statistics to medical institutions, such as, for example, Robert Koch's Institute. It is important that thanks to the application collection of information happens many times quicker, it especially crucially for people in risk group, besides, the solution releases the staff of local health departments for other, more important tasks.

The application was developed in very short time based on SAP Cloud Platform and earned in Boeblingen early in the morning on April 10, 2020. Cloud computing will allow to scale further it on all 400 health departments of Germany. The solution will be relevant and after the termination of a pandemic of a coronavirus as doctors should announce cases and other infectious diseases, such as measles, meningitis and salmonella to prevent their flashes.
