The retailer of oil products implements a BI system

On February 13, 2014 the Optima group announced expansion of the project on implementation of the BI solution in the sales block of JSC Gazprom Neft company. Optima Consulting – structural division of the Optima Group became the contractor of the project.

Project Tasks

The choice of the QlikView platform is caused by intuitive simplicity of the system interface, a possibility of development of own reports and charts users without involvement of IT specialists. High speed of development and adaptation of applications, compact storage of data bulks, an opportunity for work with diverse data sources without creation of uniform storage and simplicity of replication of the solution within federal model became important arguments for benefit of QlikView.

Project Progress

At the initial stage of the project specialists of Optima Consulting formalized techniques for analytical tools of a system and work on providing corporate requirements of Gazprom Neft on data protection. In parallel deployed the solution "Transport Integration Resource" on 1C: Enterprise platform 8.2, for automation of collecting of the operational commercial information from several tens databases 1C of affiliated enterprises for its use in a BI system. Specialists of the contractor developed the mechanism of integration QlikView with systems on 1C: Enterprise platform 8.2 for hourly operational data exchange.

Works in the project of design and implementation of a BI system for Gazprom Neft began in the second half of 2012. Main objectives of the project:

• transition to a single system of analytical indicators
• decrease in labor costs on preparation of the reporting due to failure from non-systemic data sources.

Important project task - ensuring fast obtaining detailed operational data on network of gas station, creation of various tools of the analysis of transactions and monitoring of retail sales.

The first stage of the project was completed in December, 2013. Its result - work of 150 active users in a system. According to the results of implementation the decision on replication of the BI solution on the basis of QlikView on all sales enterprises of Gazprom Neft in regions of Russia and the CIS countries is made. The number of users of a system according to the results of the second stage will be 900 people.

Project Results

More than 160 analytical tools (reports and charts) in 14 user applications in the following directions of the business analysis are implemented:

• financial result,
• efficiency of gas station,
• marginal income,
• expense structure,
• retail sales,
• wholesales,
• corporate sales,
• economic safety,
• quality of data,
• operational management reporting.

The created applications use integration with Maps Google services for display of the graphic information and Google Chart for creation of non-standard charts. For February 13, 2014 the solution of integration of BI with management systems of gas station about 1200 covers Gazprom Neft gas Station in Russia.

"It was at the same time interesting to work at this project and it is difficult. It is interesting as it was necessary to solve a set of versatile problems and to process very large volumes of data, and it is difficult because of difficulties of the organization of initial data and them not always high quality, - Denis Katyushin, the commercial director of Optima Consulting noted. – But efforts, joint with the customer, we managed to put data in order, and as a result we could provide the analysis - indicators, crucial for the customer. Besides, QlikView is exclusively suitable platform for the solution of similar tasks".
