2021: Migrating to Cloudera Data Platform
Gazprombank and GlowByte completed the migration of the analytical repository to Cloudera Data Platform 7 (CDP), becoming those who successfully completed work of this type. This was announced on August 30, 2021 by GlowByte. Now Gazprom has an analytical repository of the retail business, which allows you to solve any problems of integrating data with the most efficient TCO. Compression algorithms were able to improve file system utilization by 25%, and current storage formats improved processing speed by automatically using block and page indexing.
"Gazprombank" JSC for a long time used the Cloudera Data Hub 5 distribution as an analytical platform. The company finished supporting the current version of the solution, and the bank faced the question of migrating to the current distribution. Time showed the correctness of the original vendor selection for the Hadoop solution. Cloudera, along with Hortonworks, combined data services from Hortonworks Data Platform and the previous generation of its solution, and added data management, streaming analytics, and information security management capabilities.
The result of synergy was a solution for big data - Cloudera Data Platform 7.
The process of direct migration was preceded by a long preliminary cycle of testing and preparation of changes so that the switching was carried out with minimal downtime and without compromising the business users since our analytical platforms are a single source and factory data for all retail processes of the Bank - noted Igor Ashmetkov, Executive Vice-President - Head of Department, Gazprombank JSC - The emerging CDP capabilities allowed us to reduce TCO and increase system performance, which opens the horizons for development and allows us to be ready for further challenges. |
The peculiarity of our project was that we did not want to waste time on intermediate migration, switching to version 6, only in order to extend support for a short period, but immediately aimed at a different platform that opens up additional technological opportunities. In our future joint plans, the introduction of data management services, pilot of Virtual Private Cluster technology and self-service BI tools - said Andrei Kondratov, GlowByte Technical Director. |
