Gazprombank tests PostgreSQL to save on Oracle

Gazprombank wants to transfer the electronic document management system which is used at it based on the Documentum platform from Oracle DBMS on open PostgreSQL DBMS, told TAdviser two sources well familiar with plans of this organization, in October, 2016.

Gazprombank became interested in open DBMS

Testing of PostgreSQL is conducted with the new version of Documentum (version 7.3) which Dell EMC for wide use is going to start in December, 2016. Before the version became available to developers and partners. Unlike the previous versions of Documentum, in it support of the Open source software for the first time appeared: in addition to PostgreSQL the platform supports OS now CentOS and Ubuntu. In Dell EMC told that it is connected with numerous requests of clients, mainly, in the USA.

Gazprombank - one of large-scale users of Documentum: according to the interlocutor of TAdviser, about 7 thousand employees work with a system.

Gazprombank is interested in migration with Oracle generally for economy reasons, tells a source of TAdviser.

The bank could not answer questions of TAdviser concerning migration on PostgreSQL.
