2015: General Electric will take part in one of the largest implementations of Office 365

On July 20, 2015 it became known of the large contract for use of Office 365. The multi-profile corporation General Electric acted as the customer.[1]

As reported in the blog of Microsoft, within the new agreement more than 300 thousand employees of General Electric working in 170 countries of the world will begin to use a cloud packet of Office 365. This agreement concerning Office 365 implementation is one of the biggest in the history of a product, however he is not surprising, notes the BusinessInsider edition.

Thanks to the contract with General Electric the number of users of Office 365 will increase by 300 thousand.

Microsoft cooperates with General Electric throughout long time, delivering to the partner different solutions. For example, the division of General Electric Healthcare specializing in medical technologies and services in the field of diagnostics of health and IT places the applications in Microsoft Azure cloud.

The new stage of partnership which it was announced on July 20, 2015 will provide personnel of General Electric with access to cloud versions of flagship products of Microsoft from different mobile devices and platforms.

According to the statement of General Electric, the company intends to connect some key business applications to Office 365 by means of open API interfaces for expansion of functionality of products.

The senior vice president and the Chief information officer of General Electric Jamie Miller says that the new transaction reflects commitment of corporation to questions of performance improvement of work of employees.

"The innovation approach of Microsoft to cooperation allowed us to select Office 365 as the first scalable office tools for our employees worldwide" — Miller added.

It is worth reminding that General Electric is one of the first large corporations which began to use a packet of Google Apps for Business (the main competitor of Office 365) in work. It happened in 2009. It is unknown whether the vendor will change completely Google applications of Apps for Office 365, however before he spoke about an opportunity to work with Google services along with other products.[2]
