In January, 2018 information that in neurosurgical department No. 2 of the Gomel regional clinical hospital installed the surgical StealthStation S7 navigation system of production of Medtronic company with the application for spinal neurosurgery worth $377 thousand (about 21.5 million rubles) appeared.
As reported, the StealthStation system of the seventh generation — one of most current releases of neuronavigation stations of the American company Medtronic — was purchased at the expense of republican means. The station represents a hardware platform which allows to carry out surgical navigation in real time when using x-ray images.
The software of a system will transform the computer and tomographic or magnetic and resonant images received before transaction or the x-rays received during transaction and displays them in different projections. Thanks to it the surgeon can create, save and model the plan of intervention for one or several trajectories before transaction. For descriptive reasons the surgeon can create and use one or several three-dimensional anatomic models also. During surgery a system monitors the movement of surgical instruments and constantly updates their provision on the screen.
Use of the navigation system of such level allows to perform any interventions and operations with a minimum of complications — the manager of neurosurgical department No. 2 Sergey Kirilenko told. — If earlier a visualization method we had x-rays made during transaction, then using the navigator we, manipulating the tool, we see its arrangement concerning other objects that is very important as it is about millimeters. Besides, the station allows to reduce beam loading many times. If on implantation before standard construction — four screws — during transaction it was required to make 25–50 pictures depending on complexity of implantation, then now — only two. |
As of January, 2018, in neurosurgical department No. 2 there is a full range of the modern surgical equipment. According to doctors, use of the latest technologies will repeatedly increase chances of successful performing transactions and will ensure safety of patients.[1]
