Project Tasks

In process of development of IT infrastructure of the company, management of the park from 50 servers became complicated.

For simplification of infrastructure management, reliability augmentation and performance of services, cutting of costs for their service, IT company management made the decision - to carry out migration of the available services on a single modern platform, to consolidate computing powers, to increase fault tolerance of the migrated services. Technologies of server virtualization Microsoft Hyper-V helped to solve all these problems.

The company management "Gorodissky and Partners" understood importance of implementation of the modern solution of virtualization, in full accordance with the recommendations of vendors. Design and implementation of these technologies decided to entrust COMPAREX companies.

Project Progress

Specialists of COMPAREX company, together with the customer's IT specialists, within a month performed development and the organization of the failover cluster of virtual machines consisting of four HP servers of DL360 Gen8 and the general storage system of HP of StorageWorks P2000 G3.

Servers on the basis of the Series processor Intel Xeon E5, with the large volume of RAM and disk space sufficient for placement of the operating system were the center of a cluster Microsoft Windows Server 2012. For storage of images of virtual machines and placement of the processed data the storage system with the disk space more than 10 TB received by a join path of hard drives of SAS (10,000 rpm) in arrays of the RAID 5 or RAID 10 level is unrolled. Two four-port SAS controllers of a storage system allowed to organize without additional costs redundant connection DWH to servers via the SAS interface capacity of 6 Gb/s.

Within a month IT specialists of COMPAREX carried out transparent, step-by-step migration of the existing services among which there is a corporate mail system on the Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 platform, a corporate portal on the basis of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010, service of network printing and others on the prepared platform. Besides, developed and transferred to the customer's specialists scenarios of migration of file data warehouses of large volume.

"Virtualization on the Microsoft Hyper-V platform — an example of the balanced and effective solution having advantages, important for our company: scalability, profitability and simplicity of administration — Oleg Savkin, the technical specialist of Gorodissky and Partners company noted. - Implementation of the virtualization platform on the basis of Microsoft Hyper-V allowed to cope with the tasks facing us connected with increase in efficiency of use of IT completely. Now all applications work not on separate computers, and in one cluster, and are controlled on a centralized basis".

Project Results

As a result of project implementation it was succeeded to reduce the number of physical servers up to 20, to reduce energy consumption and heat release of a system, as much as possible to increase fault tolerance and to provide fast recovery in case of refusal.

"Heads, as well as normal users, do not see a cloud, services were qualitatively provided for them the main thing - that. Thanks to technologies of virtualization Microsoft Hyper-V in the company of the customer the ability to manage all virtual environment from one console appeared. It considerably simplifies service of a large number of virtual machines and allows to implement effective integrated management of all IT infrastructure, beginning from the physical equipment and to virtual machines and applications", - the technical specialist of COMPAREX company Andrey Navolotsky specified.
