At the end of November, 2017 it became known that the Samsung company won the government contract on delivery of smartphones to Great Britain within which offices of South Korean vendor will be received by police officers, emergency medical service and fire services of the country.
The contract calculated on three years with a possibility of prolongation for one year provides delivery of 250 thousand devices worth up to 210 million pounds sterling (about $280 million), The Telegraph reports. Also it is noted that smartphones should support standard 4G, to be in shock-resistant and moisture-proof execution and also to have the special button for communication in the push-to-talk mode allowing users to begin instantly communication when clicking the button without need to dial the phone number.
According to the edition, in tender on obtaining the contract by competitors of Samsung acted Motorola company and the British specialist in the field of communication solutions for emergency services of Sepura.
The government contract won by Samsung is a part of the program with the budget in 1.2 billion pounds sterling ($1.6 billion) for creation in the United Kingdom of a communication network for emergency services of Emergency Services Network (ESN) as a result of which the digital radio network of emergency services of Airwave operating in the country is supposed to be replaced with a mobile telecommunication system of the British telecommunication company EE.
The purpose of this project, the first in own way around the world — to give to emergency services the accessibility in the Internet on site works. As the British ministers explain, the police officer it will allow to conduct video broadcastings with the place of events and to transfer them to the command center, to paramedics — to browse clinical records of patients to which they come on a call and firefighters will be able to load plans of buildings before starting fire extinguishing.[1]
