On August 21, 2019 Fitbit announced the conclusion with the government of Singapore of the delivery contract of fitness bracelets for residents of the country. Thanks to this order of a stock of the company began to rise in price — to closing of the exchange their price rose by 2%.
The Singapore authorities started the program of improvement of the population Live Healthy SG. Any citizen can be registered in it and receive Fitbit Inspire fitness bracelet in free use. Participation in the program not non-paid — $10 a month. The user will receive additional services, consultation and personal coaching for this subscription.
Fitbit will deliver hundreds of thousands of bracelets and calculates that finally gadgets will receive more than 1 million people or 20% of the population of Singapore.
Registration in the Live Healthy SG program will begin in September, 2019, and its start is planned for October. Participants will have to agree to use of their personal data for medical projects.
The contract signed with Singapore became for Fitbit the first large integration of the medical digital platform and wearable electronics with a national health care system, says the company.
As told Reuters in the Singapore Ministry of Health, Fitbit was not the only company which showed willingness to participate in the Live Healthy SG program. Among them there were large international companies, but their names are not revealed. The CEO of Fitbit James Park in a conversation with CNBC TV channel told that for the project the company fought against Apple and other applicants.
Singapore is considered the country with the highest life expectancy of the population and the high level of health care. However the government concerned growing quantity of cardiovascular diseases and diabetics among the aging people.[1]
