In DPC of Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation the storage system and data processings is upgraded

The Technoserv company completed the project of upgrade and expansion of storage system and data processing of a federal data processing center of the State information system of migration registration (FTsOD GISMU) of FMS of Russia.

Solution

Within the project the Technoserv company executed preproject inspection and development of technical specifications, delivery of the necessary equipment, its installation and balancing and commissioning, carried out preparation for putting into operation, including data migration of the departmental systems on the new disk array.

In federal DPC to GISM the FMS of Russia installed the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform disk array entering a high-end segment. The new storage system allows to reduce time of processing of information arriving from territorial authorities within an automated system "The Russian passport" by 7 times and to reduce time of formation of the analytical reporting under the key areas of work of GISMU – by 60%.

It was succeeded to achieve ninefold increase in effective density of data storage in comparison with legacy arrays, and also to create the scalable platform of storage providing a possibility of increase in the maximum volume of the stored information up to 2560 TB.

In addition to storage system of information upgrade of the storage area network and also upgrade of a backup system and data recovery was carried out.

Carrying out migration of the main functional applications and intensively used these main information systems on the new HDS VSP disk array became an important stage of the project on development of infrastructure. The complexity of accomplishment of these works consisted in need to minimize interrupt time of work of the main functional applications of department (the central bank of inventory data of foreign citizens, an automated system "The Russian passport", the automated control system for office-work, etc.) and to completely exclude idle times in accomplishment of tasks of department in working time.

"Having booked audit of the available storage area network, the high-loaded DBMS and storage device subsystems, we could design the most rational and perspective technical solution and successfully carry out large-scale upgrade of all components of a storage system. At the same time it was succeeded to save earlier made investments of the customer and to increase performance and capacity of a system, to increase its availability and also to reduce recovery time after accident by 54%, – Vladimir Martyanov, the director of business development of Technoserv integrator told. – The success of project implementation was in many respects dictated by long effective cooperation of FMS and Technoserv in creation and support of operation of the systems of department (GISMU and GS PVDNP) and also positive experiment on implementation of Hitachi VSP disk arrays within other client projects of Technoserv".
