IKEA transferred settlement and cash infrastructure to outsourcing

On November 12, 2013 the IKEA company announced the beginning of the joint project with Wincor Nixdorf on installation of IT solutions in all settlement points of sale of retail chain stores.

Project Tasks

The IKEA group entrusted development of settlement and cash infrastructure of the retail chain stores, delivery of software solutions and ensuring functioning of systems to the only partner – Wincor Nixdorf company. The company during 2014 - 2015 will set 12 thousand POS systems in 300 IKEA shops in the territory of 25 countries.

The agreement which validity period makes six years, provides installation and operation of POS systems and the peripheral equipment connected to them. In addition, the agreement provides use and further improvement of the software developed by Wincor Nixdorf companyTP.net which manages all transactions on points of sale in each IKEA shop and collects data on the scale of all this retail network. Technical support of functioning of the solutions used in POS systems is provided.

Availability of the complete solution from the uniform supplier, for IKEA, means not only smaller amount of works on coordination of supply of shops, but also significant cutting of costs for implementation and operation.

Using the applied software package TP Applicatiion Suite from Wincor Nixdorf, IKEA uses the standardized, universal and unrolled worldwide software platform which is constantly improved. The main attention is paid to ensuring the maximum standardization of a system, however the services provided by the company include operation and individual preference of systems, updating of the software set on them and applications.

Besides, the Wincor Nixdorf company will ensure functioning of a support service for accomplishment of special requests of staff of IKEA and consultations on problems which users can independently solve. The company should perform remote condition monitoring of all systems, at an early stage to define the possible reasons of failures and to quickly take measures for their elimination, for example, to perform restart of systems.
