Overall, BMW's decision to use the HarmonyOS Next platform reflects China's rapid digital transformation with a focus on self-developed ecosystems. As part of the partnership until the end of 2025, BMW will introduce a digital key feature for HarmonyOS users that will allow drivers to lock and unlock their cars, as well as remotely start the engine using Huawei smartphones.
