Roskomnadzor announced a tender for the purchase of a data storage system and two optical switches to replace exhausted foreign equipment. The start of competitive procedures with a budget of ₽159,2 million was announced on November 27, 2024.
According to CNews, the bulk of the funds - ₽137,6 million - will be spent on the purchase of a data storage system, and ₽21,5 million - on the purchase of switches worth ₽10,72 million each.
Director of the Investigation Department T.Hunter Igor Bederov pointed out that the acquisition of systems is associated with the need to process and store large amounts of information about blocking Internet resources and optimize work with data when monitoring Internet traffic.
The new storage system must be equipped with a minimum of 73 drives, have a cache of at least 1024 GB, and provide a maximum Fibre Channel transfer rate of at least 32 Gb/s.
The hardware will support NFS, SMB/CIFS, and iSCSI protocols, as well as asynchronous and synchronous replication, deduplication, data compression, and snapshot capabilities.
The purchase is carried out within the framework of the federal project "Cybersecurity Infrastructure," for which ₽68,77 billion were allocated until 2029. Of this amount, ₽58,97 billion is planned to be spent on the modernization of technical means to counter threats.
Applications for participation in the competition are accepted until November 28, 2024, and the winner will be determined on November 29. The new equipment will increase the efficiency of the department in the field of control and monitoring of Internet resources.
In December 2024, Roskomnadzor will conduct exercises to assess the effectiveness of the backup infrastructure in a situation where the Russian segment of the Internet is deliberately disconnected from the outside.[1]
