In August 2021 Maharashtra State Skills Development Council , he announced cooperation with the company, LegitDoc-, Indian blockchainstartup to issue educational certificates.
India was particularly susceptible to document forgery because of its reliance on paper documents because documents were easy to duplicate and risked loss or damage. In addition, it often takes several weeks to verify the authenticity of paper documents, since manual verification can only be carried out by the issuer of the document. Once paper documents are issued, their storage and sheet set also create additional costs and inefficiencies.
LegitDoc seeks to combat this problem with its blockchain-based digital platform, which offers a dual service, the issuance and verification of educational certificates.
State educational institutions can create a document hash similar to a digital fingerprint for each pdf file that is a school certificate. No private identifiable information can be extracted from this hash. Thus, the Maharashtra government can guarantee the uniqueness of each file by preventing the counterfeiting of paper certificates. Documents are digital, immutable, and instantaneously verifiable.
The project is based on the public blockchain Ethereum. This provides additional security, allowing you to abandon a centralized system that can be hacked. In addition, the blockchain will reduce the standard verification process from several weeks to several seconds.
A decentralized solution, such as blockchain, also allows you to transfer ownership of documents directly to a student, which means the security and confidentiality of information.
There is potential for the introduction of technology at the national level and the company is LegitDoc exploring the possibility of cooperation with the governments of other Indian states.[1]
