2024: Completion of migration to Russian software

Astra Group and IMC GBU of the Frunze District on October 29, 2024 announced the final stage of the project for the migration of their educational institutions to domestic software. Since the end of 2022, the introduction of the Russian operating system Astra Linux and the ALD Pro directory service has begun in educational institutions, and as of mid-2024, these products have replaced foreign software in almost all organizations, and by January 1, 2025 it is expected that it will be installed on all computers of the district.

Frunzensky district is one of the largest in St. Petersburg. On its territory in October 2024 there are 48 schools, 85 kindergartens and 5 institutions of additional education. The total material and technical base of the district exceeds 6,500 units of personal computers and servers, 60% of which are already installed Astra Group products.

The project started in January 2023 with the IMC GBU of the Frunze district. Especially for new users, a 36-hour advanced training course "Astra Linux Special Edition 1.7 for novice users" was developed, which made it possible to train teachers and managers to work with the new operating system.

After a thorough analysis of the software market, we opted for Astra Linux. It was due to the fact that this operating system is a deryative of Debian, which has become one of the most common distributions of the Linux family. For Debian, there is an extensive knowledge base, instructions and support for users of all levels, as well as for Astra Linux itself, which greatly simplifies the integration and training process. In addition, Astra Group products are designed specifically for use in state organizations and at critical infrastructure facilities, "said Alexey Silaev, Deputy Director of the IMC State Budgetary Institution of the Frunze District.
