On June 21, 2017 Intel became the new main sponsor Olympic games instead of network of McDonald's fast food restaurants with which the International Olympic Committee (IOC) cooperated more than 40 years.

Intel became the new sponsor of the IOC instead of McDonald’s

The IOC and Intel signed the sponsor's contract till 2024. Some days before this event the IOC terminated the agreement with McDonald's which was a sponsor of the Olympic Games since 1976. The company explained this solution with priority inversion, connected with cost reduction.

Financial terms of transaction between the IOC and Intel do not reveal, however, as reports Reuters agency with reference to the informed sources, usually main sponsors pay the Olympic committee about $100 million in four years during which they play some winter and some summer Games. The IOC was going to increase assignments for partners, interlocutors of the edition add.

According to the statement of Intel, the company, having become the sponsor of the Olympic Games, will place emphasis at work with a 5G platforms, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, unmanned aerial vehicles and other projects for sports competitions.

In particular, it is going to use Intel True VR technology which will allow to organize for the first time in the history forward translation of the winter Olympic Games in a format of virtual reality, and drones of Intel will show beautiful air light shows for the audience.[1]
