2022: Testing the Public Land Passenger Transport Management System

From January 1 to March 31, a complex of information systems for managing public ground passenger transport, presented by Datapax, which announced this on April 18, 2022, was tested in Irkutsk.

The pilot project was carried out on the basis of the enterprise MUP Irkutskavtotrans as part of the comprehensive digitalization and modernization of passenger traffic in the city of Irkutsk. Digital services were launched on two vehicles on routes 54 and 55.

The rolling stock was equipped with sensors for calculating passenger traffic, which analyzed the number of passengers who entered and left. To demonstrate the connectless fare payment system in bus cabins, validators were installed that accept various types of non-cash payment. To inform passengers, a media panel was installed in the vehicle, which broadcast educational and entertainment content and showed the current location of the bus on the route.

An integrated approach to digitalization and the development of public transport has proven its effectiveness in many regions. Our goal was to demonstrate an automated comprehensive solution for managing public transport and acquaint residents of Irkutsk with current digital services, "said Maxim Isaev, Deputy General Director of Datapax.

In 2022, MUP Irkutskavtotrans plans to replenish the fleet with 40 low-floor buses of medium and large capacity class. The renewal of the fleet is extremely necessary, since as of April 2022, the 86% of the rolling stock of the enterprise was worn out. However, without an integrated approach, it will not be possible to improve the overall quality of transport services and solve the problem of passenger traffic.

For the qualitative development of the city's transport system, it is necessary not only a large-scale renewal of rolling stock, but also comprehensive digitalization, which provides passengers with various convenient services, and organizations with an automated public transport management complex.
