The three-year project on upgrade of DPC for JSC Far East Shipping Company is complete

As a result of long laborious work we created the data processing center (DPC) on 40 kilowatts of payload with a possibility of expansion to 60 kilowatts protected from impact of external threats, such as flooding and fire.

Dry digits:

  • The area of DPC – 48 sq.m;
  • Quantity of rows of racks – 3
  • Quantity of the isolated "hot" corridors - 1
  • The minimum degree of fault tolerance of each element – N+1
  • Total quantity of racks – 13
  • Quantity of racks for payload – 10 (an opportunity to expand to 12);

Initially the Customer located the technical premises about 100 square meters with 16 racks of different producers and ceiling conditioning systems. In these premises the Soviet computer of the EU from which there was only a raised floor and metal finishing of walls and a ceiling was located earlier. In electropanel board there were two UPSes. The lack of protection against flooding, not the redundant system of power distribution, impossibility to make the fire extinguishing system was weak points of the server premises.

The lack of an opportunity to switch off the equipment for the term of more than four hours not more often than quarterly was one of the main working conditions.

The solution proposed by us and the production technology of works allowed to implement all wishes of the Customer.

The solution is from three functional zones: a protective sarcophagus with the equipment, zones of switching of SCS and electropanel board.

The sarcophagus is executed in the form of the capital bearing board 400 mm high, forming peculiar "trough" with a raised floor inside, the metal bearing framework, walls and a roof of special fire-resistant sandwich panels. This construction maintains the fire outside within at least 60 minutes without temperature change and composition of air inside, resists to flooding on height of rising of water up to 350 mm within six hours and to vertical water flows without time limit on influence.

Construction was conducted in three stages. For work the temporary pressurized zone isolated from other premises was created.

The sarcophagus is equipped with the system of gas fire extinguishing, access control, video surveillance, the plenum and exhaust ventilation (combined with abnormal smoke removal). In a system gas fire extinguishing is applied not toxic fire extinguishing substance – Novec gas of production of company 3M. Feature of this gas is high service life and a possibility of repair of a system without production of fire extinguishing substance – Novec at the room temperature is in a liquid phase, and nitrogen under pressure is applied to its release from a cylinder. In comparison with standard of Hladonami Novec serves three times longer – 15 years.

The ventilation system and smoke removals provides the planned air exchange necessary for safe work of personnel inside. By air preparation it passes through several filters and heats up to temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. In case of need (fire extinguishing system operation, smoke) a system it is possible to include at full capacity compulsorily.

A power supply of lighting, ventilation and smoke removal, video surveillance system is performed from the separate UPS located in electropanel board. It is necessary for operation of these devices in case of fire extinguishing system operation since the main power supply at this moment is disconnected.

The video surveillance system allows to cover the minimum quantity of cameras all working space server and its environments. Use of high-quality video cameras with IK illumination gives the excellent image even at the switched-off lighting. Images of cameras are output to the monitor of protection, records are stored on the video recorder. It allows how quickly to control a status of the premises of server and to prevent fire emergence, and to permit potentially possible incidents connected with physical access to premises.

In a sarcophagus the capital equipment consisting of three rows of racks is installed. Two rows of racks are intended for placement of payload. Each row consists of four cabinets of APCAR3100 and two precision APCInROWRD conditioners. In racks it is displaid from two to four independent feeders of power supply and distribution panels with function of remote monitoring are set.

The first row is resistant office and consists of the Symmetra PX2 UPS of 160 kW with a battery array, a cabinet of power distribution, the APC InROW RD conditioner and a cabinet for the servicing and not generating heat of the equipment (KVM, servers of monitoring, streamers, etc.).

The UPS is connected to the device of automatic input of a reserve of production of APC. Generators and the second device of automatic input of a self-produced reserve are connected to the same device. It performs the choice between city inputs in compliance with installations of personnel. The status of this transfer switch using relay contacts is transferred to the main transfer switch which is equipped with means of network control.

Precision APC InROW RD conditioners are united in group. It gives the chance to manage on a centralized basis all system and in case of failure of one of components quickly to increase power output by left without increase in temperature in DPC. Use of precision conditioners allows to cool the equipment more effectively. The main feature of the similar systems – an opportunity to work at very low temperatures of street air since the compressor is located in the internal block.

Separately It should be noted the implemented monitoring system and managements of DPC of APC ISX Central.

A system consists of the specialized server with the software and various sensors. All APC devices (they are more than 60) are connected in a separate local network, and the server makes collecting and data processing. Existence of a single system allows to notify most fully personnel on the taking place events and saves from need to control each device separately.

Controlled parameters:

  • availability of liquid water on a floor;
  • Element marked a spiskavlazhnost;
  • Element of the marked spiskatemperatur on racks in front and behind, on batteries, on the UPS;
  • Element of the marked spiskanagruzk on racks and panels, a total load;
  • Element marked to a spiskavsa possible accidents and errors and state change.

It should be added that upon purchase of additional licenses the functionality of the solution of monitoring can be significantly expanded – up to planning of a possible installation site of the new equipment and forecasting of replacement old.

As a result of the done work the Customer received a modern scalable solution in compliance with initially set requirements.

It is separately necessary to note that strict planning by the Customer of the budget and its unconditional observance made work on this project very comfortable. Quite possibly, it also resulted in excellent result!
