KDL automates processing of questionnaires of patients

On December 9, 2013 the ABBYY company announced the project of automation of processing of medical documents and implementation of ABBYY FlexiCapture in network of commercial laboratories KDL.

The solution of ABBYY is implemented in two largest branches KDL in Moscow and Krasnodar. With its help it was succeeded to centralize the processes connected with processing of paper documents. The project is implemented by CORRECT company which has the status of the silver partner of ABBYY.

Project Tasks

Monthly in branches of the company about 200 thousand pages of forms of medical analyses, the questionnaires of the patient and other documents necessary for carrying out laboratory researches are processed.

Specialists of client department of laboratories manually entered data into legacy system Intranet, checked them, scanned forms for storage in archive. Such implementation of information input requires a lot of time, and data retrieveds may contain errors and typos. The decision to automate input of forms is made to increase the accuracy of the obtained information and to cut down operating expenses. The most flexible system of optical character recognition on paper carriers, fault-tolerant and scalable which can be expanded on other processes over time was required.

Project Progress

Specialists of KDL company carried out the analysis of solutions, available in the market, and selected the system of stream input of data ABBYY FlexiCapture. Accuracy of the obtained information became advantage of the solution of ABBYY.

Project Results

Processing is automated by ABBYY FlexiCapture implementation: the staff of KDL only scans now the forms of medical analyses completed with clients and verifies the recognized data. Recognition happens in the external data processing center (DPC) therefore the company has no excess costs, and a system correctly works even at sharp change of loading. Such architecture of process was offered by specialists of CORRECT. Results of recognition and the scan images of documents are kept in the internal database and file archive.
