On November 23, 2021, an agreement was announced between KamAZ and blockchain company TON Labs. The latter provided the automaker with a platform to track the supply of parts in order to combat counterfeit products.
Within the framework of this project, it is planned to implement the following functionality:
- record in the blockchain of each manufactured part at the production facilities of KamAz and all parts supplied by partners;
- Implement interfaces to all service centers for receiving and writing off parts, both sold and used in the framework of warranty services;
- It is convenient and quick to find the necessary original spare parts using a mobile application.
The result of the first stage of the project will be a solution for logistic traceability of parts from the manufacturer to the end user. It is expected that this will reduce the number of counterfeits, as well as provide quick feedback from service centers for the replacement of parts of warranty vehicles.
In addition, KamAZ plans to refuse warranty service in the event of the use of non-original spare parts, which entailed the failure of the units.
KamAZ called itself the first industrial enterprise in Russia to use blockchain to solve operational problems on a regular basis. The company notes that KamAZ is actively working in the field of counteracting the spread of counterfeit spare parts and protecting the brand on the Internet: the network is monitored for the illegal use of the trademark.
TON Labs is a key developer of the Everscale blockchain infrastructure. Everscale is developed and managed by an international community using the principles of Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO).
