2025: Import substitution of software for the paper machine control system No. 7

The Paper and Cardboard Mill of Kama the Timber Industry Group Sveza implemented the project () to import substitution software ON for the Paper Machine Control System No. 7 (PM7). The work was fully carried out by in-house specialists of the service of the chief metrologist of the enterprise. Sveza announced this on December 17, 2025.

Foreign software was installed on the BDM-7 when the production of lightly coated paper was launched in 2011. After the departure of Western vendors in 2022, it was left without technical support and service. This created serious risks to the stable operation of the equipment.

In response to the call, the team of engineers on automated production control systems of the service of the chief metrologist "KAMA" initiated a project to find an accessible open solution. Testing and analysis were carried out for three years, and in the summer of 2025 a successful method was found to transfer the system to a virtual environment. A key achievement was the migration of data and functionality from old servers to a new platform without losing performance and reliability.
