2023: Ensuring the safety of river routes

On June 28, 2023, MegaFon announced that it would help ensure the safe passage of passenger and cargo ships in the Kama Basin. Floating navigation signs along the operator's network will be able to transmit information about the location, correct switching on and off of the light signal, emergency or emergency situations for operational decisions by specialists of the Kama Basin Administration of inland waterways.

For the first time, we are participating in a project to ensure safety on the water arteries of the Kama and its tributaries. We are confident that network coverage will allow partners to control the situation during the navigation period and receive reliable information for taking operational actions, "said Natalya Taldykina, Director of Corporate Business Development at MegaFon.

The Kama River and its tributaries are part of the Unified Deep Water System of the European part of Russia, which connects the major ports of Prikamye with the Trans-Siberian Highway. In 2022 alone, over 12,000 thousand tons of cargo and more than 120 thousand people were transported in the Kama basin.

To organize safe navigation on the inland waterways of the Kama Basin, we use 50 "digital" navigation signs. When choosing a partner, a wide coverage area was important to us, including in remote and inaccessible places where buoys are located.
