The Temir Zhola Kazakhstan company upgrades network infrastructure

The Juniper Networks company implemented a new campus network for the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ).

Selection

KTZh is responsible for safety of railway cargo transportation, transportation of baggage and mail loads in all territory of Kazakhstan and therefore the network should provide high data transfer rate and also the highest level of protection of internal resources of the company to resist to network attacks.

The two-level campus architecture provides the high-performance and economic solution which will help us to lower purchase costs of physical devices of network while the firewall with a performance of 80 Gbps protects data, without slowing down network functioning".

The architecture "3-2-1" for DPC from Juniper Networks company helps clients to achieve simplification of the existing DPC networks, reducing the number of levels of architecture from three to two now and an opportunity to reduce one more level in the future according to architecture of Juniper.

Fullness

The solution is provided with high-performance firewalls and complex services of detection and an intrusion prevention (IDP) on the basis of Juniper Ethernet switches of the EX series, gateways of provision of services of the SRX series, safety management systems of the STRM series and the manager of network management and security of NSMXpress network.

In the equipment

The EX4200 Ethernet switch on the basis of technology of "the virtual chassis" from Juniper Networks provides scalability and high performance, combining reliability of building block systems and flexibility of stack switches. The EX8200 Ethernet switch meets the requirements of modern intensive environments of a data processing center and core of a campus network where the high density of ports and high availability is required. Junos, the operating system at which EX series switches work not only allowed KZhT to integrate switching, routing, security appliances and a set of network services, but also gave an opportunity to lower operating costs.

Solutions for switching are added with gateways of safe provision of services Juniper Networks SRX3600 and SRX5800, completed with a broad spectrum of services of security and are suitable both for corporate DPCs, and for data processing centers of service providers and mobile operators and also for server farms. The manager of STRM integrates devices of ensuring high-speed performance of network and security management of network in single solution, and the security appliance NSMXpress provides the single interface of management for a number of network devices, providing the low level of vulnerabilities, simplicity of management and development of patches.

Expectations

As a result of implementation of these solutions KZhT expects significant improvement of work of IT infrastructure thanks to new two-level architecture of the campus network reducing capital costs.
