Konica Minolta transfers the innovation center to technologies 5G in partnership with NEC

2020: Start of development of technologies in the field of visualization of IoT and AI

On April 1, 2020 it became known that Konica Minolta and NEC announced start of cooperation for development of technologies in visualization of IoT and AI and also health care and production. Transfer of Takatsuki Konica Minolta research center on local area network 5G will become the first stage of partnership.

Konica Minolta and NEC Corporation will create local environments for check of a 5G using network products (a core, base stations, terminals) in the building of Takatsuki of the innovation center Konica Minolta Innovation Garden OSAKA Center. Its construction is planned for October, 2020. Thanks to it Konica Minolta will be able to integrate the technologies in the field of visualization with different devices, including office and medical equipment and also technologies of NEC company in areas 5G and artificial intelligence.

The innovation center Innovation Garden OSAKA will become open laboratory where researches in cooperation with partners will be conducted. Transition to a 5G will allow to increase the added value created in the course of work of industrial optical systems, medical and office equipment. It promotes achievement of the ideas of Society 5.0 and global sustainable development goals.

In December, 2019 the Ministry of administrative cases and communication of Japan entered the concept "local 5G network" that allowed to grant licenses to use 5G to local authorities and the companies, in addition to telecom operators. Thanks to it the state and business can use the selected networks capable to provide safe and stable superfast communication.
