Rostelecom built pilot network IIoT for KEMZ

Rostelecom built pilot network of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) on a production line of the Kovrov electromechanical plant (KEMZ). Specialists of provider connected five machines to the general network of the enterprise, having adjusted their joint protected work. IIoT-infrastructure already allowed KEMZ to reduce maintenance expenses of a production line and also to exclude accidental damages of a cable network.

Pavel Shatokhin, the director of the branch of PJSC Rostelecom in the Vladimir and Ivanovo regions: "It was the interesting challenge. It was required not only build the protected local network on the operating production, but also to provide its expansion. Earlier it was necessary to rearrange often machines and to shift communication channels between them that was expensive article for the enterprise. After implementation of IIoT from Rostelecom these costs were considerably reduced. Having estimated results of pilot implementation and production features of KEMZ, we suggested the plant to build full-fledged network of the industrial Internet and to upgrade a part of the equipment. It will allow to reduce significantly costs and considerably will increase efficiency of all production process".

The IIoT network created by Rostelecom has no Internet connection that increases security of data. On condition of further development of network on the basis of offers of Rostelecom, there will be a possibility of transfer in it additional services – from telephony and video surveillance to the unrolled management system for control and access (ACS).
