2023: Building a Warehouse Optimization Model

On March 2, 2023, LAMACON (a subsidiary of Korus Consulting Group of Companies) announced that it had built an optimization model for the Lamoda warehouse, an online platform for selling goods from the field of fashion, beauty and life style. Experts conducted a scenario analysis and determined the collation parameters of the goods when using racks and without them.

Lamoda uses floor sorting of goods in its warehouses. The retailer decided to test how much it is possible to reduce costs if you organize the process of sorting orders in a new way, and calculate the necessary parameters using optimization modeling.

Lamoda specialists have collected a large amount of information: data on operating costs, labor costs, throughput capacity of each zone in the warehouse, product dimensions, packaging requirements, personnel productivity, etc. LAMACON experts used this data to build two mathematical models using a specialized industrial solution. The first model is for floor sorting, which completely repeats the current process parameters in Lamoda, the second - for gravitational.

As a result, LAMACON experts calculated scenarios for various sorting organizations and prepared recommendations on the optimal topology of the location of gravity racks.

The results of the scenario analysis became valuable information for us. We got accurate calculations and saw a significant difference between floor and gravitational sorting - in money, labor and occupied space.
