The hardware and software system Oracle Exadata provided performance improvement of requests, economy of disk space and consolidation of the systems of one of the largest telecommunication operators of Ukraine – mobile operator life:) (Astelit LLC)
In life the project on upgrade of IT infrastructure based on the optimized hardware and software system Oracle Exadata Database Machine:) is complete. Using the innovation platform of the company it was succeeded to increase considerably performance of the key systems of financial and analytical calculations.
The mobile operator life:) provides in Ukraine mobile services in the GSM standard of more than 10 million subscribers. IT infrastructure of the company daily processes requests about more than 6500 base stations, 7 service centers of the subscribers and 2 call centers located in the different cities of Ukraine.
Performance improvement of databases, reduction of volumes of disk space due to effective data compression and also consolidation of infrastructure of computing systems was a project objective on upgrade of infrastructure of the financial and analytical systems.
Migration of infrastructure of the financial and analytical life systems:) on Oracle Exadata allowed to accelerate many times request processing and formation of data marts, to reduce backup time, to considerably reduce consumption of disk space. On Oracle Exadata it was consolidated several analytical and computing subsystems solving problems of maximizing revenues of the company, settlement with other operators, control of tariffing, preparation of the reporting for marketing and financial services.
Results of operation of Oracle Exadata showed that the speed of accomplishment of requests and stored procedures for formation of daily and monthly reports grew at 4-12 times. For example, if earlier selection of detailed level of traffic in the system of settlement with other operators took 3-4 hours, then after implementation of Exadata on this procedure 25-30 minutes leave. Speed of loading of CDR (records about a call) increased by 1.5-2 times that is very essential, considering loading more than 500 million records a day. Time of backup decreased by 2-2.5 times. Besides, thanks to Exadata it was succeeded to raise a compression ratio of data that led to more than quadruple reduction of requirements to volumes of disk memory.
