The Lockheed Martin company implements expansion of a system of modeling

Customers: Lockheed Martin

MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX

Contractors: Dassault Systemes
Product: DELMIA

Project date: 2011/01  - 2011/03

Content

The Lockheed Martin company implements DELMIA Robotics in operation of robotic painting cameras.

To the project

At the moment robotics is applied in two automated painting cameras of Lockheed Martin. The camera with three robots is intended for coloring of an outer surface of the airplane, the camera with two robots is designed for painting of separate F-35 components. Optimization of work and process of management of programs in virtual environment of DELMIA provide flexibility of operation of cameras and programs for robots, allowing to make painting of different combinations of components at different times.

Modeling allows Lockheed Martin to make sure that all points of painting are available to robots without any collisions. Automation of process of painting and drawing an upper covering allows not only to reduce considerably time expenditure, but also it is better to control this process, and also to protect workers from inhalation of noxious to health vapors of paint.

Expectations

Implementation of DELMIA Robotics will allow to increase efficiency of production processes, using the general system interface of design of CATIA and the system of modeling of production processes of DELMIA.

Opinion

"The company Lockheed Martin estimated advantages of work of engineers in one user interface at once CATIA and DELMIA, - Steve Milliren, the customers manager in the space industry noted DELMIA Dassault Systèmes. – The solution DELMIA Robotics allowed to create uniform structure for simple information exchange, selective data translation and their optimal integration".
