Lukoil begins to accept payment at gas station using biometrics

On February 11, 2020 it became known that Lukoil will accept payment at gas station using biometrics. The oil company implements this project together with Rostelecom and Otkrytiye bank.

According to Interfax with reference to the director of digital identity of Rostelecom Ivan Berov, four pilot gas stations of Lukoil at which motorists will be able to pay off with biometric data were selected from Moscow. And this opportunity will be available not only in shops of gas station, but also on the columns.

So the person will be able to approach, pay and go quickly further — Berov explained.

It is possible pay goods and services with "one look" after registration of a digital image in EBS. For this purpose the potential buyer needs to hand over data in one of the banks working with a biometric system.

For carrying out payments it is necessary to link the bank card to the digital image. It can be done in the Biometrics application developed by Rostelecom or in the application of the bank supporting function of payment of goods on the person.

At gas station clients will also be able to pay off with the bonus points within the loyalty program of Lukoil.

We are in an integration stage, there not only integration with bank and cash products now, but also integration into the loyalty program. I think that on the horizon of quarter we will complete this integration, and it will be already possible at gas stations and to pay, and to write off points — Berov added.

According to him, in the next years Rostelecom intends to increase quantity of products and services in which the biometrics is used. So, the similar system allowing to pay journey without applying of the ticket or the bank card is already tested in the Moscow subway. ^[1]
