Content

On December 21, 2015 it became known of upgrade of DBMS in IT infrastructure of MTS MTS company[1].

Project Task

The uniform corporate information system on the Oracle E-Business Suite platform covers all key activities of MTS:

  • management of a full stroke of financial and logistic activities,
  • order management, projects
  • personnel management of the company.

Advertizing of MTS (2014)

On the basis of Oracle E-Business Suite the most critical business processes of the company are integrated and unified:

  • purchase management of services, capital and ancillary equipment,
  • management of warehouse stocks, settlings with suppliers and customers,
  • management of planning of investment expenses,
  • management of fixed assets,
  • management of accountable books.

For December 21, 2015 a system is used by more than 20 thousand employees of the company (and to 8 thousand at the same time).

Project Results

With transition to Oracle Database 12c the company got access to more than 500 functions implemented in this version of DBMS. Among them there is, for example, Oracle Database In-Memory (will organize data access in real time) and Advanced Index Compression (reduces the cost of archived data storage).

The Oracle Database In-Memory technology implements the unique "two-format" architecture providing the fast analysis and high-performance OLTP processing. This option allows to process not millions, but billions of lines per second and to make the analysis directly in the OLTP databases, reducing delays and increasing accuracy. Oracle Database In-Memory is developed with any existing the business application compatible to Oracle Database. Oracle Database In-Memory uses the developed technologies of vertical scaling, horizontal scaling and multilevel storage for cost-efficient accomplishment of workloads of any volumes.

Advanced Index Compression uses a new compression engine of index blocks and allows to reduce significantly the size of all supported indexes, at the same time providing effective access to them. The technology well works even for indexes which are not good candidates for the existing prefix compression.

In Oracle Database 12c to this technology the feature for automatic creation of the temperature card of the most often queried data was added. On the basis of this card automatic optimization of placement of data (Automatic Data Optimization) is made. It helps is transparent for applications to implement the strategy of information lifecycle management (Information Lifecycle Management).
