2024: Memorandum of Cooperation
Astra Group and Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works PJSC (MMK Group) announced the signing of a memorandum of cooperation in the field of IT import substitution. As the goals of interaction, the parties outlined the introduction and effective use of Russian technologies: the operating system, directory services, DBMS and solutions for the safe mobile work of personnel. Astra Group announced this on October 23, 2024.
The conclusion of the agreement was a natural stage in MMK's migration to domestic software: this process, like cooperation with Astra Group, began a long time ago. In particular, in 2023, at the customer's coke chemical production, 400 user jobs were transferred to the certified protected Astra Linux Special Edition OS as part of a pilot project. By the end of 2024, it is planned to transfer another 700 jobs in other divisions of the plant, and in 2025 a systematic import substitution of software at workplaces at all its enterprises will begin.
Together with the introduction of software products, the document also provides for training MMK Group personnel, updating already used products and testing new solutions.
We carefully analyzed the market and chose the Astra Group ecosystem with Astra Linux as the flagship. It is important for us to have a holistic set of interconnected domestic products that integrate into our IT infrastructure and cover the basic needs of MMK. Another plus is regular updates and manufacturer support for these solutions. The signed agreement will allow us to systematically, following our roadmap, within a few years transfer the entire volume of computer equipment - about 13 thousand units - to Russian software, - said Pavel Shilyaev, General Director of PJSC MMK. |
Cooperation with one of the world's steel producers, MMK, is a sign of recognition of the high quality of our products. We are grateful for the trust and at the same time understand how serious this responsibility is: we have to solve a number of important problems in the field of digitalization of metallurgy. Our team is ready not only to offer a technology stack that will increase the efficiency of the new business processes of the plant, but also, if necessary, to make improvements to its software so that it best meets the expectations of the industry, "said Ilya Sivtsev, General Director of Astra Group . |
