"Mail of Donbass" implemented Open Source from developers from the DPR

2020: Implementation of Umbrella Linux

On February 13, 2020 it became known that Mail of Donbass implemented the solution Umbrella intended for management of IT infrastructure of the enterprise and belonging to the class of the software with the open code (Open Source). Told about it in the Ministry of Communications of the unrecognized Donetsk People's Republic supervising this enterprise.

Umbrella is founded on Linux- a distribution kit Ubuntu. The main developer of a product is the Donetsk physicist Konstantin Metlov. The staff of the Donetsk physics and technology institute of A.A. Galkin took part in development. Umbrella ensures system operation of authorization of Kerberos connected to LDAP.

Besides, Umbrella provides management of network topology, information security, the hardware and the place of employees and servers allows to create configurations of workers. Among other Umbrella will help to calculate key performance indicators for each employee.

In fact, Umbrella provides functionality which the system administrator usually does at arrival for work. Then other system administrator comes and all remake therefore there is a chaotic economy. Umbrella allows to arrange all this process, explain in Ministry of Communications of the DPR

The Ministry of Communications of the DPR is happy with progress in implementation of Umbrella and intend to create on its base the closed Citadel distribution kit for state agencies. For Umbrella obtaining FSTEC certificates and FSB is planned. Besides, in work with Umbrella it is going to train students of the Donbass state university with a possibility of participation in product development.

The state enterprise "Astelit" is responsible for IT projects in the DPR. It was created at the beginning of 2017, property management of the Lifecell mobile operator which left the republic (the former name - "Astelit") was its initial task.

In plans of Ministry of Communications of the DPR Gitlab creation – a local analog of a repository of GitHub where will place the source code of software created for needs of state agencies with a possibility of independent testing and scripts of deployment appears. Also in the ministry are going to organize Cloudstate – a single platform for providing state services in a cloud.

At Mail of Donbass there is also an IT product of own development, but already with the closed code. It is the ERP system the automated workplace OS created based on 1C and supporting work with Linux via^[1].
