In the middle of December, 2020 it became known that to MasterCard and Visa prohibited payment acceptance on the world's largest pornwebsite Pornhub.com. The solution of the payment companies followed after on the website illegal content was detected.

The payment companies organized own investigation concerning Pornhub after the author of a column of the New York Times Nicholas Christof accused an entertaining resource of distribution of video records at which there is a violence and child abuse.

Christoph wrote that every year on Pornhub about 7 million videos among which there is a material with rape of teenagers are published. Some of them, according to him, appeared in bondage as a result of human trafficking. The author claims that criminals who stand behind stealing and rapes are arrested, however the pornwebsite wants to avoid responsibility for distribution of illegal videos. The administration of Pornhub denies charges.

Our investigation confirmed the fact of violation of the standards prohibiting illegal content on the websites. We instructed financial companies which responsible for connection of the website to our network, with the purpose to stop payment acceptance.

Mastercard intends to continue investigation concerning potentially illegal content on other websites. In Visa noted that save vigilance for the purpose of suppression of illegal activity through the payment system. The company recommended to partners from financial institutions regularly to carry out an inspection on compliance of clients to standards.

Pornhub said that solutions of payment systems "only disappoint". The entertaining website against the background of charges nevertheless took measures, having prohibited unchecked users to publish content, and for others introduced restrictions.[1]
