The first PET installation / KT-skanera is completed by Siemens Biograph Vision

Customers: Medical center of the university Groningen (University Medical Center Groningen)

Pharmaceutics, medicine, health care

Project date: 2018/06  - 2018/06

In June, 2018 the Siemens Healthiners company completed the first installation of the PET/KT system of Biograph Vision in the Medical center of the university Groningen in the Netherlands. The staff of the university hoped that the implemented equipment will help them quicker and more precisely to carry out diagnostics.

According to the press release of the company, Biograph Vision provides pinpoint accuracy when forming PET / KT-izobrazheny. The new technology of detecting of a signal Optiso Ultra Dynamic Range (UDR) founded on silicon photomultipliers (KFEU), but not on normal (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) used in a system uses crystal elements of the oksitorosilikat of lutetium (LSO) only 3.2 x 3.2 mm in size that provides higher resolution of images. A system is also characterized by the shortest duration of an operating cycle in the industry so resolution capability of the device on time makes only 214 picoseconds. Besides, a system differs in the highest effective sensitivity - 100 kPa/kBq.

Thanks to this functionality of Biograph Vision it is capable to reduce scanning time by 3.9 times that increases capacity of the device and also reduces radiation exposure of patients and cost of the procedure. The ring of the tomograph with a diameter of 78 cm allows to locate conveniently and effectively the patient and also to use the advanced opportunities of radiation therapy.

Besides, Biograph Vision offers additional functions for improvement of quality of care after patients. Multiparametric Suite FlowMotion allows to estimate the standard index of absorption and volume of distribution, and OncoFreeze and CardioFreeze as much as possible reduce noises when forming PET / KT-izobrazheny, removed during the movement of the sensor.

By June, 2018 a system went on sale in Europe and other countries of the world.[1]
