2021: ZTE will supply the IPBH equipment for a transport network

On January 13, 2020 the ZTE Corporation company announced a victory in the tender for delivery of the IPBH equipment for a transport network of PJSC MegaFon.

Taking into account the analysis of the existing network of Megafon and its development in the future ZTE proposed the solution using routers of level of aggregation and a core of the M6000-S series and also the high-performance equipment of the access level of ZXCTN 6100.

Technical solution of ZTE is based on complex end-to-end the solution MPLS and assumes simplification of work on service of network. It is expected increase in traffic of LTE in the long term the next five years and also implementation of a 5G of services.

The victory in the tender of Megafon for delivery of IPBH is confirmation of positions of ZTE in this area. We hope to continue long-term cooperation with Megafon on all lines of network equipment, – Tang Luhao, the president of ZTE Corporation company in Russia said.

2020 became critical in partnership development between ZTE and Megafon. We are glad to cooperation increase about Megafon not only in the field of supplies of equipment for a wireless network, as well as for a transport network. Completion of upgrade

On December 17, 2020 the ZTE corporation reported that together with and PJSC MegaFon completed the project on replacement of the equipment of RAN (Radio Access Network) in Chelyabinsk region.

The project provided upgrade of a radio network of the operator on the equipment of ZTE in Chelyabinsk and Chelyabinsk region of more than 2000 base stations, including 2/3/4G. He also turned on delivery of the radio equipment, its technical support and service for 7 years and a full stroke of "turnkey" installation works. The project on upgrade on the equipment of ZTE was complete ahead of schedule.

Instead of the current solutions the equipment of ZTE on the SDR platform (Software Defined Radio) was installed thanks to what Megafon can change technology with each frequency range without additional visit to the website. So, for example, on some websites the layer of LTE 2100 was started that considerably increased a covering of LTE and capacity of network. The VoLTE service was also started. Besides, in the large cities (Chelyabinsk, Magnitogorsk, etc.) the MIMO regime of higher about was started (4х4). It allowed to achieve significant improvement of client experience in areas with high concentration of subscribers. On customer satisfaction degree Chelyabinsk takes the leading positions in the Ural branch of Megafon.

The carried-out tests showed that solutions of ZTE could improve transmission quality of a voice (MOS) and provide necessary capacity for the increased volume of traffic of users of the mobile Internet (height more than 40%). It affected increase in number of mobile subscribers, especially in a corporate segment.

MegaFon cooperates with all producers of the radio equipment, applying the most technology effective solutions on the network. To us it is important that any updates only improved perception of services of Megafon by our subscribers. The ZTE company in this project showed the opportunities both as vendor and as integrator. We expect further mutually beneficial cooperation, - Pavel Korchagin, the director of technical innovations and infrastructure of Megafon noted.

Russia is the important market for ZTE Corporation. The project of upgrade of the RAN equipment implemented by ZTE in Chelyabinsk region showed our capability in the solution of a difficult technical task on "live network". Project implementation allowed to upgrade ahead of schedule completely infrastructure in Chelyabinsk region, including preparation of network for a 5G and also to considerably reduce operating expenses in the future at the expense of more energy efficient equipment and a possibility of remote control the websites. This experience laid the foundation for broader cooperation between Megafon and ZTE, – the senior vice president of ZTI-Svyaztekhnologii LLC Tigran Pogosyan comments.

Beginning of upgrade

MegaFon for the first time began to install the equipment of ZTE what became known on February 27, 2020. As told Kommersant in the companies, the operator updated infrastructure of network in Chelyabinsk region, using products of the Chinese partner.

This project in total covered 700 base stations, including 2G, 3G and 4G. Besides, MegaFon and ZTE intend to extend cooperation to a 5G networks.

We save the fundamental principle of our development — within one region the network of MegaFon should be monovendor, i.e. we use base stations of all standards and technologies from one producer — the director of technical innovations and infrastructure of MegaFon Frédéric Vanostchouyz said.

ZTE told the edition that it is the first project of the company MegaFon in Russia regarding deliveries of the radio equipment. At the same time the producer actively participates in other directions of development of network of the operator.

ZTE and MegaFon signed the contract in September, 2019. It is going to satisfy its conditions by the fall of 2020. Partners do not open a financial component of the agreement. According to Kommersant, the cost of one base station can be $4-15 thousand.

Within the project the first cluster in Miass was brought into commercial operation in October, 2019. After two months of stable work, including loading on New Year's holidays and carrying out optimization works, network provides proper communication quality, reported in MegaFon. In the same place added that the carried-out tests showed that solutions of ZTE could improve transmission quality of a voice (MOS) and provided a total gain of traffic of users of the mobile Internet for 15%.

ZTE showed the capability in the solution of an ambitious task of replacement of the equipment on "live network" of the whole city. It is especially relevant  as an example of successful cooperation in anticipation of the tender for the equipment of RAN  for all network of MegaFon — the senior vice president of ZTI-Svyaztekhnologii LLC Tigran Pogosyan reported.[1]
