Miami authorities purchased 200 flying taxis

Customers: Global Crossing Airlines

Transport

Contractors: Eve Air Mobility

Project date: 2022/03

On March 16, 2022, flying car developer Eve Air Mobility announced the signing of a contract with Global Crossing Airlines, in which the customer will purchase 200 flying taxis for use in Miami. The next step the city authorities will work out a more detailed profile of flights, solving the problems of the local community and determining logistics in relation to the charging infrastructure.

This transaction is included in Eve's portfolio of orders, numbering up to 1.7 thousand electric aircraft with vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) by March 2022. The company expects to begin deliveries in 2026. The company also announced the creation of a UAM consortium tasked with developing a concept of operations (CONOPs) to study services. The project involves connecting Miami International Airport (MIA) with the Miami Beach Convention Center by flying vehicles of the eVTOL type.

The consortium, working with Eve, includes Skyports, L3Harris Technologies and Community Air Mobility Initiative (CAMI), each of which brings its own experience to the group. While Skyports specializes in the design and construction of vertical port infrastructure, L3Harris is engaged in the integration of air traffic control technologies, and CAMI is engaged in the integration of UAM into communities through education, communication and cooperation.

We expect the Miami consortium to be a model for UAM operations that Eve will be able to replicate in North American and other markets. The next step will be to draw up a more detailed flight profile, solve the problems of the local community and determine logistics for the charging infrastructure. To do this, the consortium is holding meetings with stakeholders, colleagues and potential operators from today until the end of June to discuss the first phase of CONOPs, "said Eve Executive Director Andre Stein.

As of March 2022, Eve is developing a eVTOL aircraft that can carry a pilot and four passengers, and will also be ready for autonomous flights. The company plans a flight range of up to 96 km/h and a flight speed of up to 201 km/h. Eve management expects to receive a certificate from the National Civil Aviation Agency Brazil (ANAC) by the end of 2025 and begin deliveries in 2023.[1]
