2022: Implementation of the Vitro-CAD Automated Design Data Management System

Mozyr Oil Refinery is a large enterprise in Belarus, which has been counting its production activities since January 30, 1975 and has consistently remained a steadily developing enterprise.

The high quality of oil products of the Mozyr Refinery is achieved due to the current technological scheme. To maintain strong positions and remain an example of an effective economy, the company pays great attention to the phased implementation of technologies.

Internal processes are also undergoing transformation, the improvement of which increases efficiency and shortens the development life cycle. The company has a design department (PKO), which interacts with internal customers (plant workshops). In order to be transparent and facilitate communication between processes, it was decided to implement the Vitro-CAD APCS.

Implementation objectives

The main emphasis was on creating an environment of common data that would allow coordinating the work of related divisions and synchronizing their data exchange in the common digital space. It was important to provide for the recording of user actions, the organization of business processes in electronic form, the creation of a single electronic library for technical documentation with delimited access of participants. In addition, it was necessary to create a single archive of documentation, which had been conducted since the 1970s, and translate this archive into digital form (scanning).

Implemented functionality

With the help of the contractor - ChTUP Glavtelecom - an electronic document archive was created. Documents were transferred from paper to electronic with the assignment of all the necessary attributes, which subsequently made it possible to organize documents by projects and sections, as well as reduce the time to search for documents in the system.

A single automated shared data environment has been created that allows departments to work with original project drawings (dwg files). This established the interaction of the project unit (design department) with customers (the plant workshops act as customers). The common data environment includes a unified project structure, use of templates, delimitation of access rights, setting up alerts, simplification of search, organization of competitive work with files, tracking of document versions, audits and reports on work in the system. A shared data environment has been created not only for CAD projects, but also for BIM, which implies special conditions for collaboration in the central file.

The Vitro Process Manager functionality is organized and configured. This made it possible to automate routine actions, reduce paper flow, increase transparency of processes, and speed up interaction between employees. The following workflows are organized in the Vitro-CAD system:

  • approval of design documentation with the customer.
  • issuance of tasks and their transfer to related subdivisions,
  • approval and approval of documents within the engineering department.

Positive effect

The introduction of the automated design data management system Vitro-CAD has made it possible to increase the efficiency of many familiar processes, simplify the interaction between plant departments in a complex chain of related processes, reduce the time for searching and processing documents, increase the security of data storage, transfer to electronic space and the documents themselves, and the processes associated with them, as well as improve project management.

The achievement of these goals leads to an overall increase in the efficiency of the enterprise, a reduction in the design time and coordination with the customer, and, ultimately, a positive impact on product quality.
