The company Gemalto announced at the beginning of 2016 cooperation with the companies "Megafon" and "VimpelCom", mobile operators in Russia whose total quantity of subscribers makes 180 million. Within cooperation Gemalto delivers to mobile operators NFC SIM- cards based on UpTeq Multi-Tenant technology which resemble for use in smartphones, equipped with NFC technology. Using the smartphones using such SIM cards subscribers of mobile operators can pay travel by city transport of Moscow – the subway, trams and buses, – having attached the mobile device on the contactless reader. For this purpose on phone it is necessary to load the application of the transport card Three previously.
MegaFon and VimpelCom provide NFC UpTeq Multi-Tenant SIM cards to the subscribers free of charge. The ticket can be paid through mobile application Three, fare is written off automatically from balance of the mobile phone of the subscriber. Thus, passengers of public transport should not stand in queues for purchase of the ticket in cash desk any more. The project on payment of city transport using NFC technology was started in Moscow in September, 2015. According to forecasts of analysts in several years about 7 million passazhirov2 will use this payment method of transport. The Gemalto UpTeq Multi-Tenant SIM card is the solution which was selected in 12 of 13 countries in which projects on payment of city transport by means of NFC technology are implemented. Using the solution Gemalto it is possible to perform mobile NFC payments also; it also is the ready platform for implementation of additional contactless services.
