NVision Group and Russia-Bank held testing of the new IBM Power7 servers

Nvision Group company together with JSC Russia-Bank bank organized a pilot zone within which held comparative testing of accomplishment of bank tasks on servers IBM Power6 and IBM Power7.

Within a pilot zone comparison of closing of trading day in the software CFT Bank and CFT Retail on Power6 and Power7 was carried out. In all tests the same disk system and also the uniform software - the Oracle 10.2 database management system and the AIX 6.1 operating system was used that allowed to achieve uniform initial data.

During testing consecutive closing of trading day on all bank in one flow using the program CFT Bank was executed. As a result of carrying out a series of tests it turned out that when using servers with the Power7 processor duration of closing of banking day decreased by 21 - 25%.

The second test stage was carried out on the software of CFT Retail within which parallel closing of three branches was executed. As a result on servers with the Power7 processor the speed of closing of banking day also grew on average by 23%.

It should be noted that at parallel operation of servers overall performance increases even more as new processors in the mode of a multitreding have four flows whereas Power6 only two.

Head of department of infrastructure of JSC Russia-Bank Bondarev Andrey: "Together with NVision Group we managed to unroll a pilot zone in the shortest possible time, to make the plan of researches and to carry out them. We are happy with the received results which proved real increase in productivity of accomplishment of banking activities. Closing of trading day at us lasts more than three hours therefore reduction of this process on a quarter will allow us to use more effectively our computing resources and to provide a possibility of further expansion of business".

The head of department of work with commercial banks "Nvision Group" Lishnevsky Alexander specified: "Testing proved noticeable performance improvement of work of banking applications on the new IBM Power7 servers in practice that increases efficiency and quality of work of bank in general. It managed to be reached thanks to the competent choice of the software and carrying out necessary works on its "thin" setup".
