Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has introduced a neural network for wireless diagnostics of metallurgical equipment. The technology was developed at the South Ural State University (SUSU), the press service of the Ministry of Industry, New Technologies and Natural Resources of the Chelyabinsk Region reported on February 28, 2024.
As explained in SUSU, the rolling mill is a wide range of equipment capable of giving the metal sheet the desired thickness. In the event of a failure of even one node of such a system, the entire production line stops. The new technology created at the Chelyabinsk university predicts the likelihood of a breakdown of some element of the unit, thanks to which MMK specialists can plan repair work in time and avoid financial losses.
Our system allows you to find problem nodes in time, then maintenance, repair or replacement of the node will be scheduled for the time of the planned schedule for stopping the mill, and not at the time of the accident, "said Ramil Zakirov, project manager, director of the Research Institute of Experimental Engineering, SUSU. |
According to the developers, the neural network created at SUSU can analyze a large amount of data on the operation of equipment obtained from special sensors. For the operation of the technology, a software package was created and launched on MMK computers. Using such a complex, an employee of the enterprise can go to the server at the IP address, view the index of the technical condition of the equipment and analyze the data from the sensors if necessary. The information is displayed according to the "traffic light" scheme: green means that everything is in working order, yellow - you need to pay attention to something, red - you need to urgently take action.[1]
