On November 10, 2021, Hikvision announced that, together with its partner, the Ural Center for Security Systems (UCSB), it had modernized the security system of MAOU secondary school No. 184 "New School" in Yekaterinburg. The basis of the solution for the security television system was the Hikvision and HiWatch IP street cameras.

In the territory and in the school building, it was necessary to replace obsolete equipment, as well as install additional cameras in the so-called "blind" zones, in order to improve control and safety over the territory. When replacing equipment, it was necessary to ensure the harmonization of technical solutions and access to video data. When choosing systems, the school management paid special attention to the quality of the transmitted image, the availability of certificates and the timing of warranty support. An important requirement in the project was the possibility of implementing an economical, but at the same time functional solution for building a single unified security television system.

To cover the security system throughout the school, models of HiWatch cameras with different focal lengths were chosen - the devices control both wide areas (general area in front of the school, perimeter and others) and narrower ones (entrance group, stairs, approaches and entrances to the facility, courtyards). The advantage of the system is the presence of EXIR lighting with a range of up to 30 meters - this is a patented technology from Hikvision based on thin-film light-emitting elements. Unlike conventional infrared illumination, EXIR technology provides uniform scattering of light from, diodes so when the camera moves to black and white in night mode time , the image does not have dark angles at the edges of the frame and illuminated areas in the center. This makes it possible to obtain a better image in conditions of insufficient lighting and get reliable information information about the current situation in the protected area.

To ensure the safety of playgrounds, 4 MP Hikvision cameras with EXIR lighting were already used up to 50 meters to increase the monitoring area. High resolution and additional analytics for detecting movement from the facts of crossing "virtual" lines and intrusion into designated areas increase the information content of the image and the effectiveness of the security system.

Installed cameras support the function RoI - highlighting the area of interest - with its help, the selected area of ​ ​ the frame (for example, where movement constantly occurs) will be broadcast in a higher quality than all other sections. This reduces bitrate requirements and saves space in the archive. Additional savings are provided by the use of the H.265 + compression codec, with which the system performs video stream compression without losing the original quality, but the archive takes up much less space.

As part of the project to modernize the security system for the New School in Yekaterinburg, old readers were also replaced access control systems with readers PERCo supporting mobile identifiers.
