2022: Digital Polygon Upgrade Begins

Specialists of the portfolio company Rusnano - Profotec have begun to modernize the RusHydro digital landfill at the Nizhny Novgorod hydroelectric station. This was announced on July 5, 2022 by Rusnano.

According to Profotec, this is the first innovative software and hardware complex in Russia based on the digital substation technology, using optical current and voltage transformers for relay protection and automation, as well as commercial accounting.

Measuring digital current transformers were installed on one of the station's hydraulic aggregators in 2017. The first stage of their pilot operation made it possible to outline ways to further improve the equipment.

After deep modernization of electronic and optical components, as well as software, the updated transformers will significantly expand the range and accuracy of measurements, increase the noise immunity of digital systems and ensure faster operation of relay protection systems and emergency automation. The end of the modernization is scheduled for August 2022.
