History

2024: Bankruptcy procedure

In mid-July 2024, the developer of fiber-optic technologies and innovative transformers for the electric power industry, Profotec JSC, filed for bankruptcy. The relevant documents will be sent to the arbitration court.

The Fedresurs database says that in connection with the appearance of bankruptcy signs at Profotec JSC, provided for by Art. 3 of the Federal Law of 26.10.2002 N 127-FZ "On Insolvency (Bankruptcy)," and in accordance with clause 2 of paragraph 4 of Art. 37 of the Federal Law of 26.10.2002 N 127-FZ "On Insolvency (Bankruptcy)," the applicant intends to apply to the arbitration court with an application for declaring the company bankrupt. "Profotec" also notifies about the occurrence of signs of insufficient property. At the same time, it is said that as of December 31, 2023, the value of the net assets of Profotec JSC was 503 805 000 rubles.

"Profotec filed for bankruptcy

JSC Profotec was created with the participation of Rusnano. The company's website notes that its fiber-optic current and voltage measuring transformers are not only an alternative to traditional electromagnetic measuring transformers, but also provide the possibility of a phased transition to the Digital Substation. Profotec claims that its technologies make it possible to significantly increase the accuracy of measurements and switch to a qualitatively new level of measurements using only digital signal processing.

In July 2024, "Profotec," as RB.ru notes, was mentioned as a resident of the SEZ "Technopolice Moscow" and a manufacturer of equipment for digital intellectual power. The company planned to establish ties with partners from Saudi Arabia, and also supplied transformers to India and Turkey.[1]

2023: Implementation of developments at UAE facilities in conjunction with Nano Imports General Trading

The portfolio company Rusnano - Profotec and Nano Imports General Trading LLC will jointly introduce domestic developments at UAE enterprises. Rusnano reported this on March 28, 2023.

The protocol was signed by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov and Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates Abdullah Ben Tug Al Marri.

In particular, we are talking about the supply of electron-optical measuring current and voltage transformers necessary to build digital intelligent power and energy-intensive industries. These devices have good metrological characteristics and represent a symbiosis of the physical principles of measurement and advanced technologies in the field of photonics.

Their use significantly reduces electricity losses, increases production efficiency and mitigates the risks of its shutdown, as well as reduces material consumption in the electric power industry.

Profotec is already implementing joint projects with local and international companies in India, France and China. The decision of the Intergovernmental Russian-Emirati Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation will contribute to the entry of domestic high-tech products into the markets of the Middle East, as well as the development of science and technology in Russia and beyond.

2022: Attracting 300 million rubles of investments from VEB Ventures

Venture fund VEB Ventures (ВЭБ.РФ Group) on January 27, 2022 told TAdviser that it had invested 300 million rubles in Profotec JSC, a developer of innovative current transformers for the electric power industry based on unique electronic optical technologies. The financing will be aimed primarily at scaling sales in Russia and in international markets, increasing production capacity, expanding the product line, further R&D and marketing. The current shareholder of Profotec is Rusnano Corporation.

According to experts from VEB Ventures, within a few years this investment can bring multiple profits, which will be provided, among other things, by the dynamic growth of the segments of the global digital technology market in the power on which the company operates. What, in turn, will become for the Russian market - the renovation of substations at energy enterprises, which is laid down in the departmental project "Digital power."

Since 2010, Profotec have been develop, testing and producing fiber-optic current and voltage measurement systems for the electric power industry based on electron-optical technologies. The company is one of four players in this segment in the global market. Manufacturers of traditional transformers are not included in this segment, as they do not have sufficient competencies in electronics.

The company "Profotec" plans to take part in the process of digital transformation of the domestic power. The company's products will partially replace outdated analog transformers, which are inconvenient and dangerous to operate and do not provide measurement accuracy in critical areas.

According to representatives of Profotec, solutions based on electron-optical technologies provide high measurement accuracy, stable operation in a wide temperature range. Digital measuring transformers benefit from traditional, due to the lack of magnetic saturation, stable operation under short-circuit current conditions and other parameters. In addition, they do not require regular maintenance, cost 30% less to operate and are able to analyze the condition of the lines.

As Oleg Teplov, CEO of VEB Ventures, noted, the global volume of the digital technology market in the power is estimated at $53 billion, and forecasts for the coming years indicate a gradual growth to $64 billion. In Russia, this market is just developing, the trend of digital transformation of production is certainly present.

In particular, the implementation of the departmental project "Digital power" will have a significant impact on the growth of the sector, - said the top manager. - In Russia there are more than 11 thousand substations of 110 kV voltage class and higher, more than 10% annually falls into the renovation program. We expect that over time, Profotec 's products can be installed at least 10% of the total number of reconstructed and newly built substations.

Oleg Teplov also added that digital transformers are fire-safe and environmentally friendly. They do not use toxic and combustible substances.

File:Aquote1.png
We consider it profitable to invest in a team with a strong R&D, which was the first in the Russian market to create such a product and successfully export it, - the head of VEB Ventures assessed the prospects of Profotec.

For his part, Sergey Vakhterov, Senior Managing Director of Rusnano Management Company, noted that the technological solution being developed by Profotec fully meets all the requirements of the Smart Grid construction concept. At the same time, the company faces several tasks, including reducing the cost of the manufactured line of digital current and voltage transformers, expanding the line for measuring low voltage classes and sales geography.

We are confident that we will be able to build a world-class company that will be of interest to strategic investors, "concluded Sergey Vakhtero.

The market for integrated automation systems in power in Russia is about 60-70 billion rubles, said Oleg Rudakov, General Director of Profotec. The company plans to receive more than 40% of revenue through the implementation of complex solutions, including electron-optical current and voltage transformers. Products "Profotec" are the primary link of digital accounting in the architecture of building a "Digital substation." The company expects an increase in demand as the Digital Transformation 2030 roadmap is implemented, which Profotec will be able to satisfy after expanding production capacities, the head of Profotec shared.

File:Aquote1.png
Our company is at a growth stage, and the entry of a strong institutional investor will allow us not only to prepare for active sales, but also to properly scale the business. Therefore, we expect a long and effective cooperation, - concluded Oleg Rudakov.

2020: Plans to launch production of optical transformers in Switzerland

The resident of the special economic zone "Technopolice Moscow" company "Profotec" localizes the production of optical transformers in Switzerland for the export of products to the markets of Europe and North America. This was announced on May 19, 2020 by Technopolice.

The agreement between the capital company and Condis SA will be signed in 2021 for a period of five years with the possibility of prolongation. A consumer support service center will also open in Switzerland.

File:Aquote1.png
In 2019, the volume of exports of the capital industry amounted to $27.8 billion, which is almost 32% more than a year earlier. Moscow's share in the total volume of Russian exports is more than 43%, including 20% for non-resource non-energy exports. Of course, the pandemic affected international projects, but did not paralyze them. For example, Profotec and the Swiss manufacturer of power equipment, Condis SA, have agreed to expand cooperation. The agreement provides for the localization of the assembly of transformers in Switzerland. The released products under the joint Condis-Profotech brand will be delivered to the markets of Europe and North America,
told Alexander Prokhorov Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy of the city of Moscow
